Breonna was an EMT working at two hospitals. All she ever wanted to do was help people. One night she and her boyfriend Kenneth Walker were sleeping when police raided their apartment, without announcing themselves according to witnesses. Her boyfriend grabbed his gun and took a shot at what he thought were intruders to defend himself and his girlfriend; The police responded by firing into the apartment 22 times. To top it all off? The police broke into the wrong fucking apartment. The raid was a result of a botched warrant and they were no drugs found on the premises. Apparently the suspect they were looking for didn’t even live at that address. Breonna was shot eight times in her own bed and her boyfriend is now charged with shooting an officer.
Of course the police are claiming that they did knock and announce themselves, but a neighbor said she heard nothing until the sound of a battering ram and gunshots. Now the police are trying to malign Kenneth Walker as an attempted cop killer and a danger to society, but he only shot one officer non-fatally in the leg after they burst into his home in the dead of night, which lends credence to his version of events of you ask me.
The DA needs to thoroughly investigate this case and be prepared to hold the police accountable because they should not be able to fuck up a warrant, break into your home in the middle of the night, and then call you the criminal when you defend yourself. This could’ve happened to any of us. Justice for Bree.
